The Association of Recovery Schools honors recovery research award recipients

On December 5th in Washington, D.C., the national Association of Recovery Schools hosted their Annual Recovery Research Awards Banquet. RRI director John F. Kelly, Ph.D. received the Recovery Researcher of the Year Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Advocacy and Public Policy through Science. The awards banquet was attended by several staff from federal agencies including Mr. Michael Boticelli, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy Award and Dr. Wilson Compton, Deputy Director of NIDA. Award recipients in full were:

  • RRI Director John F. Kelly, Ph.D. – Recovery Researcher of the Year Award: For Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Advocacy and Public Policy through Science
  • RRI board member William L. White, M.A. – William L. White Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Recovery Research
  • Nora D. Volkow, M.D. – The Director of the Year Award: For Outstanding Contributions to the Advancement of Addiction Recovery Research by a Federal Office
  • Sigurd Zielke, D.Min – The Visionary Award: For Outstanding Contributions to Youth Recovery Research through the Use of Applied Sciences
  • Andrew Finch, Ph.D. – The Recovery School Award: For Outstanding Contributions to Recovery Research in an Educational Setting
  • D. Paul Moberg, Ph.D. – The Spectrum Award: For Outstanding Contributions to Prevention, Intervention and Addiction Recovery Research for Adolescents and Young Adults
  • Andrew Burki, M.S.W. – Recovery Philanthropist of the Year
